Nobody performs best under stress. Throughout my 30 years as a tutor and teacher, I’ve seen anxiety threaten to derail several students’ best test prep plans. Luckily, I’m not just a 25-year practitioner of yoga. I’m also a certified yoga teacher. As such, I’ve incorporated a variety of mindfulness tools into my tutoring and coaching practices. For example, I teach students to use breathing exercises before and during the test to calm jittery nerves. I also assign students to listen to guided visualizations (including mine here) and to journal to bolster their self-esteem and minimize test and social anxiety.  (Read a brief published article about that here.) Finally, I deliver public lectures about self-care and reducing anxiety. I love helping teens (and older adults!) live balanced, happier lives.
